Updated 10:48 a.m. Green went off the ice just as normal practice began after roughly a 35-minute workout.

Mike Green is on the ice in full gear this morning, working out with strength and conditioning coach Mark Nemish ahead of the Capitals’ team practice.

Green, who has missed 17 consecutive games with a strained right groin muscle, has not skated since Dec. 8 when he slammed his stick into the boards as he went off the ice having sufferred a possible setback.

The defenseman visited with a specialist about the groin injury last week and rejoined the team during its road trip in Colorado. There is no timetable for Green’s return.

Green has missed 23 of the past 24 games due to injury, first a twisted right ankle sidelined him for six games beginning on Oct. 27. Then in his first game back from the ankle injury, he suffered the groin strain on Nov. 11 in New Jersey.
