Mike Green didn’t skate for a third straight day today with a twisted right ankle, and Coach Bruce Boudreau didn’t sound optimistic when asked if the two-time Norris Trophy finalist would be ready to face the Oilers.

“Doesn’t look good for tomorrow,” Boudreau said. “He didn’t go on the ice today. He’s on the trip and he’s going to skate tomorrow morning, so let’s hope for the best.”

Green was still walking with a pretty pronounced limp in the dressing room at Rexall Place this afternoon.

If Green does not play, based on the pairings the Capitals used the last two days in practice it’s likely that defense will be arranged as such: Karl Alzner and John Carlson; Roman Hamrlik and Dennis Wideman; Jeff Schultz and Sean Collins.

Jay Beagle (concussion) and John Erskine (left shoulder) stayed behind in Washington.
