All-ACC senior cornerback Chase Minnifield underwent a knee arthroscopy procedure Tuesday to address floating cartilage particles that nagged him for most of the 2011 season, according to Minnifield’s father.

Frank Minnifield said in a telephone interview that the procedure, which lasted roughly 15 minutes, went well and that Chase is expected to be back to full strength in roughly two weeks. Chase Minnifield sat out Virginia’s 42-24 loss to Auburn in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Saturday due to the knee injury.

After the bowl game, Chase Minnifield traveled to Gulf Breeze, Fla., and had the procedure done at the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. Frank said Chase has not yet decided where he will train in advance of the NFL Draft in April, nor has he signed with an agent. Chase did receive an invitation to the NFL Draft Combine, which will be held in Indianapolis at the end of February.

Minnifield, a two-time first-team all-ACC selection, finished his Virginia career with 13 interceptions, which ranks sixth all-time in program history.
