Predictably, Alec Baldwin appeared on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend to address his removal from an American Airlines flight for reportedly refusing to turn off his cell phone because he was in the midst of a heated game of Words With Friends.

Somewhat unpredictably, Baldwin addressed the episode by apologizing to himself, while pretending to be American Airlines pilot Capt. Steve Rogers.

In the process, he managed to ensure that we’re still discussing this ridiculous and minor incident nearly a week after it originally occurred. Well played, Mr. Baldwin.

Watch the Baldwin-as-Rogers Weekend Update sketch after the jump, then feel free to post a comment about how it’s really time to drop this whole matter because it’s gotten beyond silly.

When she isn’t at a movie theater or writing about movies, Jen Chaney is ... um ... probably at home, watching a movie.
