Hilary Duff, the pop singer and one-time star of the Disney Channel’s “Lizzie McGuire,” is expecting her first child with husband and Pittsburgh Penguins player Mike Comrie. Duff, 23, who married Comrie, 30, last year, announced the happy news on her official Web site. (People)

Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland expressed her grief and condolences after the stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair over the weekend. Five people died and dozens more were injured when the stage came down prior to a Sugarland performance, and shortly after fair officials told fans to take cover in anticipation of a pending thunderstorm. “There are no words to process a moment of this magnitude and gravity,” Nettles wrote on the duo’s Web site. “There are only prayers for peace in the hearts of the bereft, and prayers of thanksgiving for those who were spared or safe.” The Indiana State Fair is scheduled to reopen today.
