“The Ides of March” — the political thriller directed by George Clooney and also starring the newly single actor as a presidential candidate involved in some campaign intrigue — will open this year’s Venice Film Festival and be featured at the Toronto Film Festival in September. The trailer for the film, which also stars Ryan Gosling, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Evan Rachel Wood, is now online. And yes, it has “for your consideration” written all over it.

Clooney’s other major fall release — ”The Descendants,” directed by Alexander Payne and starring the Oscar winner as a semi-frumpy (by Clooney standards) father confronting family tragedy — is also heading to the Toronto Film Festival and most likely making a bid for Oscar attention this fall. Naturally, this presents a potential Clooney conundrum of epic proportions, as well as the opportunity for a Clooney vs. Clooney movie trailer face-off.

Which film are you more eager to see? Watch both clips after the jump, then attempt to make a call. At the risk of being wishy-washy, I honestly am equally eager to see both.
