The country singer wed 22-year-old model Lacey Buchanan in his home town of Vero Beach, Fla., at sunrise Monday, People reports.

“A best friend for life. I now have a wifey :)” Owen, 30, tweeted. “my face hurts from smiling. What a wonderful way to start the rest of my life.”

The couple met while filming the music video for his song “8 Second Ride” in 2009. Owen proposed onstage in April.

It was a rather eventful weekend for the singer, who was detained by police in Vero Beach after apparently having too much fun on Cinco de Mayo, according to the TC Palm paper.

Owen was reportedly dancing outside a Steak ’n Shake restaurant while wearing a mask when he was handcuffed by a police officer, but not arrested, the TC Palm reports. According to Taste of Country, Owen sent out a series of tweets about the detainment, including, “You give a guy a gun and a badge and he thinks he’s John Wayne.”

He later apologized for the incident on Twitter: “Y’all I apologize. The IRC Sheriff was doing their job. I love hometown. I had too good of a time on Cinco de Mayo.”

He continued, “The Sheriffs were doing their jobs and I made an immature decision to announce it to the world. This is me talking. ... Not some puppet that is reciting what he ‘should’ say. I take full responsibility. Again, what’s done is done, but I am truly sorry.”

Clearly, the new Mrs. Jake Owen was not deterred by this little “for worse” situation and went ahead with the “I Do’s” Monday.
