‘Jersey Shore’ spinoff won’t happen in Hoboken

In a message posted to the city’s Web site (PDF), Mayor Dawn Zimmer said the city council voted unanimously to deny the filming permit, filed by 495 Productions and MTV, “based on the negative impact it would have on the health, safety and welfare of our community.”

Zimmer seemed particularly aggrieved that 495 Productions had previously not obtained a permit to film in one location: “As the mayor of a community that has experienced significant corruption in the recent past, I write to you ... on formal notice that there will be zero tolerance for this kind of approach in the City of Hoboken.”

It isn’t confirmed which “Shore” spinoff — the one starring Snooki and J-Woww, or the one planned for Paul “DJ Pauly D” Delvecchio — the permit was for. But the Jersey Journal had reported that scouts for the spray-tanned twosome’s show were spotted in Hoboken.

Even with the setback, Snooki still seems pumped for the spinoff. She wrote on her Facebook page, “NYC for lots of press with my girl Jwowwzers ! love my booboo! Can't wait for our spinoff!!”
