Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) — member of Congress and defender of honorable women — is set to appear on an NBC television series alongside another honorable woman: Leslie Knope.

In a press release issued today to select media, NBC confirmed that McCain and two of his Senate colleagues — Sens. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) — will make cameo appearances in the fifth season of “Parks and Recreation,” currently shooting scenes today and Friday right here in the nation’s capital.

The press release offers the following plot description of said episode, the season’s second, which will air Sept. 27: “Recently elected councilwoman Leslie Knope (series star and Emmy nominee Amy Poehler) ventures outside her hometown of Pawnee, Indiana,  and travels to the nation’s capital to visit Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott), who invites her to a cocktail party attended by several high-powered politicians — including Senators Boxer, McCain and Snowe.”

Translation: Leslie is totally going to choke on mini-quiches while attempting to discuss serious issues with high-powered senators.

As the Reliable Source reported earlier today, cast members Poehler and Scott — along with America’s favorite immature married couple, April Ludgate (Aubrey Plaza) and Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt) — were spotted shooting footage outside the White House and in the Old Executive Office Building.

Surely this means that Knope is going to come face-to-face with the star of her celebrity sex list, Vice President Biden?

The Office of the Vice-President confirmed that members of the the cast and crew of “Parks and Rec” filmed at the White House Complex today but said they had “no additional details.”

Hopefully I can pick more details on Friday when I am scheduled to visit the set during the Pawnee comedy’s last day of shooting (at least for now) in Washington.
