An individual tells People that “They both love their daughter and Tom thinks she should be with her mother.” According to TMZ, the high-profile couple decided to settle their split speedily after discussing the impact that a public battle would have on their daughter. Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan, Meryl Streep, Sally Field, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Jon Hamm and Steven Spielberg were among those who gathered in New York yesterday to remember the life of Nora Ephron . Director Mike Nichols said that Ephron, who died June 26, had orchestrated the memorial service — including the playlist, which featured standards by Jimmy Durante and Frank Sinatra — and demanded that “all of us be finished in under 47 minutes.” (New York Daily News)
A family friend of Usheris apparently under investigation in connection with the jet ski accident that has left Usher’s stepson with estranged wife Tameka Foster brain dead. Jeffrey S. Hubbard allegedly was driving the watercraft that hit 11-year-old Kyle Glover and a 15-year-old girl at Georgia’s Lake Lanier. Glover has been hospitalized with major head injuries since July 6, when the incident occurred. (E! Online)
Kristen Wiig and boyfriend Fabrizio Moretti, drummer for The Strokes and ex of Wiig’s “Whip It” co-star Drew Barrymore, were among those who attended Ellie Kemper’s wedding over the weekend in New York. Kemper, who starred in “Bridesmaids” with Wiig, married “Conan” writer Michael Koman . I sincerely hope Wilson Phillips was played at this wedding. (Us Weekly)
