When speaking to Fearne Cotton of BBC Radio 1 this week, the pop star talked about a possible collaboration with her friend Rihanna:

“I was telling her, you know that Eurythmics song with Aretha Franklin, Annie Lennox, ‘Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves’? That’s like the kind of song that I’d want to do instead of, like, ‘Hips Don't Lie,’ which was still a great song by Shakira and Beyonce. I mean, not ‘Hips Don’t Lie,’ what’s that duet? ‘Beautiful Liar.’ ”

She continued, “I loved it, but I definitely want to do something that is just kind of like, so iconic.”

Some people saw this as Perry throwing shade on Beyonce and Shakira, which would clearly be a no-no.

(A shorty version of this quote — which casts Perry in a cattier light — has been published on several Web sites, with the source appearing to be the Mirror. You can listen to Perry’s actual statement at the 1:58 mark in the audio file here.)

Perry sent some very classy tweets to tell the haters to stop trying to create drama.

“[Expletive] all y’all (press) dat thinks I dissed anyone, puhlez, u havin a slow news day or what?! Get a life, cuz it’s not mine! #hoodratcominout,” she tweeted. “If ya ears are filled with wax it’s time to get a cleanse boo.”

Celebrity feud averted — for now.
