Matthew Broderick is apparently reprising his role as Ferris Bueller, the super cool hookie playing sausage king of Chicago from John Hughes’s classic film, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” for a Super Bowl ad.
An ad for what? It’s unclear.
An extremely mysterious 10-second clip was posted to YouTube Thursday by a brand new user named “chuckachucka2012.” (Get it?)
In the teaser, Broderick throws open some curtains and says, “How can I handle work on a day like today?” (The movie’s line: “How can I possibly be expected to handle school on a day like this?”) The company behind the ad — if that’s what this really is — will be revealed on Super Bowl Sunday (that’s Feb. 5, non-football fans), according to the video’s description.
Obviously, there are many questions that need to be answered. For example, who is behind this? Will Alan Ruck and Mia Sara make an appearance? Will we get to “Twist and Shout” all over again?
Update: Jalopnik is reporting that the ad is for Honda. There’s no official confirmation of the report at this time.
Watch the teaser below, and speculate about the ad’s maker in the comments.
