Aw, we’ve missed you, Gollum, ol’ buddy. (Warner Bros./AP)

The second full trailer for one of the year’s most anticipated films, ”The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” arrived online this morning. And then Twitter exploded.

All right, that’s not true. But the preview of the first movie in what will be Peter Jackson’s second J.R.R. Tolkien trilogy certainly generated some excitement.

Even the people at Metal Hammer magazine were pumped.

Everyone shut up, the new Hobbit trailer is here… #HobbitsAreMetal

While the initial trailer, which was released last year, stoked our fondness for the “Lord of the Rings” franchise, the second two-and-a-half minute clip puts more emphasis on action.

We also get to see a bit more of the physicality Martin Freeman brings to his role as Bilbo Baggins and — oh, the precious joy — more of Andy Serkis’s Gollum. Watch it on iTunes or via the clip below, found via the Playlist. Oh, and happy early Hobbit Day.
