“You have given me love, support, wisdom and most of all the truth,” Shriver said to Winfrey. “And I know I’m not alone in receiving those gifts from you.” The former first lady of California didn’t talk about her husband at the taping, but she released a statement about the controversy separately: “I ask for compassion, respect and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal.”

The Oprah double episode, airing Monday and Tuesday before Wednesday’s finale, was filmed at Chicago’s United Center and attended by a cavalcade of stars, including Tom Cruise, Aretha Franklin and Beyonce, and about 13,000 fans. “Thank you is not enough, but thank you,” Oprah told the crowd. “For your love and your support, thank you.”
