Russell Crowe and Danielle Spencer, his wife of nine years, have separated, according to a report in the Sydney Morning-Herald. The Australian newspaper says the split is amicable. It also features the word “mollycoddle,” which newspaper stories really don’t use frequently enough. To be clear, neither Crowe nor Spencer — who have two sons together — has confirmed the separation. However, Gossip Cop reports that a rep for Spencer said a statement will be released soon. With “ Skyfall ” opeing in the UK on Oct. 26, several days ahead of its Nov. 9 U.S. opening, the first batch of reviews for the James Bond film have begun to trickle out. They are largely very positive. The Hollywood Reporter says it will “certainly be embraced as one of the best Bonds by loyal fans,” while the Telegraph calls it “frequently dazzling” and “utterly audacious.” The Guardian is slightly less enthusiastic, praising its “bruising, tumultuous opening half,” but criticizing it for becoming too “touchy-feely” during its final section.
