“Haven’t been approached by anyone to play Rupert Murdoch. That’s just a beat-up,” the New Zealand-born Aussie actor, who recently finished filming “Les Miserables,” tweeted Tuesday.

The report seems to have originated on the site of the U.K. tabloid the Daily Star. The site claims that Crowe and Colin Firth are set to star in an adaptation of former Sunday Times editor Sir Harold Evans’s memoir.

Crowe’s tweet continued: “I am off to build a boat. Will be gone for quite some time.”

Said boat is actually an ark. Crowe will play the title character in Darren Aronofsky’s Biblical film “Noah,” which begins filming in July.

He’s clearly been doing his research. Crowe also tweeted, “no sails, no engine, runs purely on faith ... does it bug anyone else that Noah’s sons are named in the bible ... but not his wife ...#re-write”
