The world premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2” took place Monday night in Los Angeles. And after months of questions and concerns about the nature of the real-life romance between the actors who play the fictional Bella and Edward, we finally got the officially sanctioned photograph that reassured us that love is alive and well.
All right, maybe that’s not so convincing. Let’s try this again.
That’s a little better, right? Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are almost smiling.
Actually, Stewart, Pattinson and many other well-known residents of Forks, Wash., looked pretty happy to be participating in the final, splashy world premiere of a Stephenie Meyer-inspired movie about vampire love. Here’s a summary of the event via sometimes flattering and occasionally ridiculous photographs.
Jacob (Taylor Lautner) expressed his Edward appreciation by stroking the elbow fabric of Robert Pattinson’s blazer, which is a color best described as Peter Pan green.
In case those first two photos didn’t satisfy your Robsten fix, here’s one of the two of them close-talking while Stewart looks slightly distressed.
At this point, let’s pause for a montage of Robert Pattinson making inadvertently absurd faces.
I like this one because the bodyguard looks more freaked out by that inflatable Angry Bird wearing sunglasses than Pattinson does.
Here’s Ashley Greene, a.k.a Alice Cullen, assuming the “I’m Obviously Hot But I Swear I’m Not Trying to Look Hot. But Seriously, Doesn’t My Effortlessness Make Me Even Hotter?” stance. Which is totally working for her.
Here’s Nikki Reed (Rosalie) with husband Paul McDonald, sporting smiles so bright and wide that it seems possible their appearance at the “Breaking Dawn Part 2” premiere was underwritten by Crest White Strips.
You know what famous people love to do at movie premieres? Interact with the fans.
Kellan Lutz loves it.
Lautner definitely loves it.
He especially relishes the opportunity to pose with fans and their tiny dogs. (Seriously, that little pup is pretty cute ... and so’s the dog. Ha! Oh, I kid because this is the last big “Twilight” premiere, and I fear the statute of limitations on Lautner red carpet jokes is running out.)
Maggie Grace demonstrates the joy of signing her name on a random piece of paper.
Stewart also did her best to accommodate the earnest Bella-lievers...
...as well as people wearing weird glasses.
Honestly, do you think this woman is waking up today, looking at these photos and going, “Man, I really should have ditched the goofy glasses?”
In case you were concerned about Bella and Edward’s offspring, please know that Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy) was present and wearing a cute little-girl outfit.
Remember when Dakota Fanning used to be that young? Well, now she’s 18 and has raven-black hair, which has obviously hypnotized the fan with the weird glasses.
Elle Fanning is not in “Breaking Dawn Part 2,” but she came to the premiere to support her sister and also to show off her new platform sandals, which were designed by NASA and, if activated, can catapult her into an adjacent solar system.
Now here’s a selection of additional people who aren’t in the “Twilight” movies but who came to the “Twilight” premiere: Kiernan Shipka, a.k.a Sally Draper...
...and Julianne Hough, who came with a less punk version of Miley Cyrus’s VMA hair...
...and Amy Adams....
... and, of course, Stevie Nicks, who showed up to remind us all that Kristen Stewart is like a cat in the dark and then, she is the darkness. Or something.
But ultimately, the four most important people at the “Breaking Dawn Part 2” world premiere were the members of this quartet: Lautner, Stewart, Meyer and Pattinson. Put those names together and, post-“Twilight,” you’ve got one heck of a law firm.
