‘The Waltons’ reunite on ‘Today’

It’s actually been 40 years since the TV movie that inspired the show premiered, and a large part of the original cast is gathering in New Jersey tonight for a screening.

Eight of the original cast members, including Michael Learned (Ma) and Richard Thomas (John-Boy), talked with Matt Lauer about how much they enjoyed working with each other.

Learned also addressed criticisms that the show is too sweet — “Toward the beginning we were dealing ... some real issues, as well as the warmth of the family.” —, and Thomas revealed that he doesn’t mind being told “Goodnight, John-Boy” after all these years. So make sure to yell it at him should your paths cross. Watch the reunion below.
