Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes to divorce

View Photo Gallery: The Hollywood stars are calling it quits after a high-profile courtship and more than five years of marriage.

TomKat, as we know it, is over.

According to a report in People magazine, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting a divorce.

Holmes’ attorney Jonathan Wolfe told the magazine that “this is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,” adding that “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”

Update: Cruise's rep has released a statement. Read it here.

Cruise, who turns 50 next week, first publicly proclaimed his love for Holmes in 2005 when he famously jumped on Oprah Winfrey’s couch and delight-frightened Americans around the country. The couple wed the following year. They have a daughter, 6-year-old Suri Cruise.

We’ll have more on this Earth-shattering celebrity split shortly. In the meantime, feel free to share your condolences (or “I told you so’s”) by posting a comment below.
