Tracy Morgan controversy to be covered on ‘30 Rock’

The controversy that surrounded Morgan after homophobic jokes and comments he made at a Nashville show last year went public has been incorporated into an episode of ”30 Rock,” according to the Huffington Post.

Morgan immediately apologized for the remarks, but more recently seemed to backtrack on the mea culpa, saying the whole thing was “a big misunderstanding.”

Thomas Roberts, an openly gay MSNBC anchor who made a cameo on the NBC comedy, told the Huffington Post, “Liz Lemon writes Tracy's apology on the show and says he’s not a homophobe, he’s an idiot. That offends idiots, so while NBC is being picketed by the LBGT community, now it’s also being picketed by idiots led by Denise Richards. She’s the leader of the idiots.”

I’ll give you a moment to recover from the idea of Denise Richards, a.k.a. the former Mrs. Sheen, playing “leader of the idiots.”

Clearly, we’ll have to wait and see if the show handles the tricky subject with the care it deserves. I’m still not sure how I felt about Michael Richards addressing his racist outburst on “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

Also yet to be seen: whether Jack Donaghy will be kicked off a plane for being a Words With Friends fanatic.

What do you think of this ripped from the headlines storyline? Tell us in the comments?
