Davis was toasted in an essay written by her “The Help” co-star and fellow Oscar nominee Cicely Tyson.

“She is a serious and soul-stirring actress, and her rich body of work represents the full range of our humanity,” Tyson wrote of Davis for Time.

Davis cited Tyson as one of her acting inspirations in her acceptance speech at the SAG Awards.

Claire Danes also made the list, thanks to her role as a CIA officer in the TV-show-you-should-be-watching-because-it’s-so-good “Homeland.”

Valerie Plame, the former CIA covert-operations officer who was at the center of a Washington scandal almost a decade ago, wrote in Time,“Danes breathes life and realism into a character who, for once, goes against the clichés of what a female CIA officer is supposed to do and look like.”
