Will Smith to host Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards

The actor has been named the host of Nickelodeon’s 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards.

Smith, who has won 10 blimps (and one Oscar), is making his return to the Hollywood spotlight this year with “Men in Black 3.” The blast-from-the-past alien flick premieres this March. Hey, that’s the same month as the Kids’ Choice ceremony. What a coincidence!

Sarcastic comments about show business aside, it makes sense that Smith is this year’s Kids’ Choice host considering he’s partially responsible for two of the most talented young up-and-comers in Hollywood, children Willow and Jaden. The residual kid cred he has from writing “Parents Just Don’t Understand” doesn’t hurt either.

The Kids’ Choice Awards are notable for really just one reason: the slimings. Yes, Nickelodeon takes great pleasure in dumping green goop on A-listers, including past hosts Jack Black, Kevin James and Justin Timberlake. And what better way is there to welcome Will Smith back to the public eye than by covering him in a gross green concoction.
