Since the Yuja Wang dress story seemed to have hit a nerve, WQXR invited a few of us with contrasting points of view for a podcast to discuss the issue of what concert artists should or shouldn’t wear. I joined fellow-Washingtonian Patrick McCoy and Amy Frawley, the executive vice president of Concert Artists Guild. I’m still arguing with one friend about whether this subject is gender-related. I believe that men who push the envelope in classical music — like these two — don’t get the same kind of censure that women do. She claims that it’s the same for both genders. What do you think?
