Local news: It’s Raheem DeVaughn day

May 5 is “Raheem DeVaughn Day.” (Astrid Riecken/FTWP)

Here at Click Track, we’d probably give DeVaughn our Capital Bike Share key, our Amazon password and our SmarTrip card, if he asked nicely — i.e., we’re fans.

We profiled DeVaughn back in 2008 and checked back in before he dropped his his 2010 album “The Love & War MasterPeace.” We liked what we heard and so did the Recording Academy, who nominated it for a Grammy. Alas, he didn’t win. But that leaves room on his mantle for the key to the city. Congrats, Raheem.

(Listen to some of our favorite Raheem DeVaughn songs, after the jump.)

Chris Richards is The Washington Post's pop music critic. He has recently written about Adele's sadness, Kendrick Lamar's fury, Young Thug's genius and T-Pain's vulnerability.
