Madonna inks new deal, preps Super Bowl set; Gil-Scott Heron memoir on way; Bon Iver tops Pitchfork list

- The memoir of iconic and influential musician Gil-Scott Heron will be released in January, on Martin Luther King Day.

- Bon Iver’s “Bon Iver” album topped Pitchfork’s best albums list. The rest of the top five was rounded out by Destroyer, M83, PJ Harvey and Girls. Grade of B for last week’s predictions on the year’s most-talked -about year-end list.

- Country star Rodney Atkins has filed for divorce from his wife in the wake of an incident last month in which he was arrested and charged with domestic assault.

- A Foo Fighters gig in New Zealand literally rocked the Earth.

- Meanwhile in New York, Courtney Love was evicted from her $27,000/month apartment for allegedly setting it on fire.

- In today’s Weekend section, local jazz singer Lena Seikaly is profiled. There are also reviews of recent albums by veteran crooner Chris Isaak (Monday at the Birchmere); Pittsburgh punks White Wives (Wednesday at DC9); techn-house party starters Hot Pink Delorean (Thursday at U Street Music Hall); local stoner metal group Borracho (Friday at Velvet Lounge); and Americana upstarts the Wheeler Brothers (Saturday at Hill Country).
