MJ tribute draws 50,000 in Wales; Former Weezer bassist dies; RCA shutters three labels

- Former Weezer bassist Mikey Welsh died in Chicago over the weekend. He was 40 years old. Welsh joined Weezer after the departure of original bassist Patrick Sharp and played on just one album, 2001’s “Weezer” (better known as “The Green Album”). In recent tweets, Welsh talked about witnessing his own death in Chicago. Check Blog Post for more details.

- RCA Records announced that Arista, Jive and J Records will no longer exist as stand-alone labels and have been folded into RCA.
