Pixar has long been knocked for its relative dearth of strong lead female characters, and has been newly knocked by some for its frequency of sequels in recent years. (Even teased hints of sequels are scrutinized, as when Tom Hanks tossed out to the BBC that there may be a “Toy Story 4.”)
So suffice to say: There’s a lot riding on the slender shoulders of the flame-haired horseback rider in Pixar’s summer-of-2012 release, “Brave.”
Today, fresh off the big-time opening box office for “Cars 2,” Disney/Pixar — in all its savvy — has made available online its teaser trailer for “Brave.”
The film’s tale centers on the young Scottish princess and ace archer Merida (voiced by Kelly Macdonald); other featured characters include Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson) and Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd).
