Without making a move, Disney/Marvel just made a gain for 2012.

Warner Bros. has just announced that the release date of its next Superman film, “Man of Steel,” is being pushed back from December 2012 to June of the following summer. Variety first reported the news.

Marvel has “The Avengers” and “The Amazing Spider-Man’ on deck for next year. Warner Bros./DC is banking on “The Dark Knight Rises” for 2012.

Zack Snyder (“300,” “Sucker Punch”) is directing the film, which will star Henry Cavill (Showtime’s “The Tudors”) as Supes. The cast for the Superman reboot includes Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as Zod, and Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Ma and Pa Kent.

Christopher Nolan, who is directing “Dark Knight Rises,” is overseeing “Man of Steel.” .
