1 dead, 1 injured in Ft. Washington car crash

A Temple Hills man was killed in a head-on collision between a truck and an SUV in the Oxon Hill-Fort Washington early Thursday morning, authorities said.

The crash occurred just after midnight, near the intersection of Palmer Road and Tucker Road, said Cpl. Larry Johnson, a Prince George’s County police spokesman. A Ford F-150 traveling north on Palmer Road veered across the center line and ran head on into a Ford Explorer traveling south, he said.

The Ford F-150’s driver, Charlie Bryant, 49, of Temple Hills, was killed, Johnson said. The driver of the Explorer was injured but was in stable condition at a hospital Thursday afternoon, Johnson said.

It remains unclear why the Ford F-150 veered across the center line, Johnson said. He said speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
