One person was killed and two were injured in a multiple-car crash early Friday morning that has closed the westbound lanes of the Dulles Access Road, authorities said.

Three cars collided prior to Hunter Mill Road around 6:45 a.m., but the exact circumstances of the accident are still being investigated, said Capt. Willie Bailey, a spokesman for the Fairfax County fired department.

Two drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Bailey said.

The westbound lanes of the Dulles Access Road are being diverted onto the Dulles Toll Road, but police said the road should reopen shortly.
