12-year-old boy stabbed in Leesburg

A 12-year-old boy was stabbed Sunday night in Leesburg, and a teenager was later arrested in connection with the assault, police said.

The boy was walking in the 100 block of Fort Evans Road NE when he was approached by a teenager, who stabbed him and fled the scene, according to authorities.

The boy was transported to a local hospital, where he is in stable condition, police said.

Authorities said they arrested a 16-year-old in connection with the attack but did not provide details on charges. The youth is being held in the Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center, according to authorities.

Officer Christopher Tidmore, spokesman for the Leesburg Police, said the incident remains under investigation and declined to provide any additional details about the assault or any possible relationship between the two juveniles.
