Two people were killed overnight in a motorcycle crash that closed an exit ramp for River Road on the Beltway’s inner loop for several hours, Maryland State Police said.
Shortly before 3 a.m., the adult male and female were thrown from the motorcycle after they struck a guardrail at the base of the off-ramp in Bethesda, said Sgt. Kurt Dominick, a police spokesman. Speed may have been a factor in the crash, Dominick said.
The pair were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Dominick. The victims have not been identified because police are still in the process of notifying next of kin.
The off-ramp remained closed as police investigate the crash, but reopened around 7 a.m., police said.
