MIDLOTHIAN, Va. — Two teenagers have been charged in an assault on a Chesterfield school bus driver.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports the incident occurred in Midlothian on Wednesday after the driver stopped to confront a third teen who had thrown a rock through an open window on the empty bus before fleeing. The other teens then entered the bus and allegedly attacked the driver.

Police say a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were charged with misdemeanor assault. The boy also was charged with giving false identification to police. Their names with withheld and the bus driver wasn’t identified.

Police spokeswoman Elizabeth Caroon says the incident remains under investigation.

Chesterfield schools spokesman Shawn Smith says the driver was passing through the area to park the bus overnight at Midlothian Middle School.
