2 Va. women charged after toddler died in car

DANVILLE, Va. — Two Danville women are facing charges after a toddler died from being left in a hot car.

Media outlets report the child’s mother, 35-year-old Danielle Clark, and 27-year-old Maiqian Shenta Deshazor were arrested Wednesday and are being held without bail.

Danville police say 20-month-old Dakhyran Reeves, his 3-year-old sister and a 78-year old woman suffered from heat exhaustion in a car outside a Ross department store June 21.

The toddler died at a hospital. His sister and the elderly woman were treated and released.

Clark is charged with murder, aiding and abetting abuse, neglect of an incapacitated adult, and child neglect and abuse.

Deshazor, the elderly woman’s caretaker, was charged with aiding and abetting murder and abuse, neglect of an incapacitated adult and aiding and abetting child neglect and abuse.
