A man was stabbed in the arm on a Metro bus Thursday afternoon during an argument on a Southeast Washington bus route, authorities said.

A juvenile male and the man got into an altercation on the W4 bus, when the juvenile stabbed the man, said Dan Stessel, a Metro spokesman. The incident happened at about 4:20 p.m. near the intersection of Pennsylvania and Southern avenues, on the bus headed for Anacostia Station, he said.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and no other passengers were injured, Stessel said. D.C. police and Metro transit police responded to the scene and authorities took the juvenile into custody, Stessel said.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the fight.
