Body found stuck in well in Pr. George’s

A dead body stuck inside a well in Prince George’s County was recovered by police on Saturday, authorities said.

Police received an anonymous call Thursday about a body in a well and responded to the 11900 block of Old Fort Road in Fort Washington, according to department spokeswoman Julie Parker. After officials lowered a camera to confirm that a body was there, police cadets conducted a grid search the next day and officials planned the excavation.

The work began shortly before 9 a.m.on Saturday, Parker said, who has been providing updates on her Twitter feed. Crime scene investigators donned biohazard suits to descend into the well, Parker said.

The body was pulled out around 4:30 p.m., Parker said. She said an autopsy will be performed Sunday and police hope to identify the person by Sunday evening.
