A Clarksburg man died Monday after a struggle with officers who were trying to arrest him, Montgomery County police said.

Police identified the man as Nathan Jones, 39, of Tailor Shop Place.

Officers went there about 5 p.m. to investigate reports of someone who was being violent and behaving erratically. The officers were told he had threatened roommates with weapons and tried to arrest him, police said. After he became violent and resisted, police said, officers deployed a chemical spray.

Rescue personnel went to the scene to treat him for exposure to the spray, and then left. Shortly afterward, the man began to lose consciousness, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.
