ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A Silver Spring man has been sentenced to five years in prison for shooting a man after a drug deal outside Marley Station Mall in Glen Burnie.

Twenty-three-year-old Christopher Royal Gayle entered an Alford plea to attempted second-degree murder. He was sentenced on Tuesday.

The Capital of Annapolis reports that prosecutors say on March 29, Gayle met Ricky Ernest Johnson Jr. and another man outside the mall to sell cocaine.

Authorities said that after getting out of a car, Gayle shot Johnson twice.
