84-year-old woman assaulted, robbed inside Suitland home

Prince George’s County police are searching for a man who robbed and assaulted an 84-year-old woman inside her Suitland home Wednesday, authorities said.

Police were tipped to the incident on Thursday, when a neighbor saw the 84-year-old woman’s door hanging open in the 4400 block of Arnold Road, authorities said. Officers arrived to find the woman had been assaulted and robbed by a man who knocked on her door posing as a neighbor, then forced his way inside her home, authorities said. The man took money from the woman’s purse and fled the scene, authorities said.

Police said the woman, who remained on the floor until the neighbor saw her door ajar, was treated for minor injuries. They are still looking for the suspect, whom they described as a black man, about 20 to 30 years old, with a muscular build. They said the man was wearing all dark clothing, and he might have injured his finger or hand during the attack.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Robbery Unit at (301) 772-4905.
