Nine men were arrested Friday during a prostitution sting on Route 1 in Laurel, according to Howard County police.

Female officers worked undercover during the sting, police said. Men who approached the women and offered them money for sex were taken into custody, according to police. All nine men were charged with solicitation.

Laurel residents have complained of prostitution-related activity along the road, police said.

In April, eight men were arrested during a similar sting. In 2010, Howard County police arrested 76 people in prostitution stings, according to police.
