94-year-old pedestrian killed in DC

A 94-year-old woman was hit by a car and killed Tuesday in Northwest Washington, the D.C. police said.

They said Aidah Sabir-Jenkins was struck in a crosswalk in the 2800 block of Georgia Avenue around 10 a.m. The car, which had been traveling north on the avenue, was turning right onto Harvard Street NW, the police said.

The D.C. fire and rescue department took Sabir-Jenkins to a hospital, where she died, the police said.

Public records indicated that Sabir-Jenkins lived in the neighborhood in which she was struck.

The incident remained under investigation, police said.
