Alexandria man arrested in Oxon Hill stabbing

Prince George’s County police homicide detectives have arrested an Alexandria man in the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old in Oxon Hill Friday evening, authorities said.

Michael Douglas Nealy, 35, was arrested Monday in Lanham and charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of 20-year-old Jakari Butler, of Oxon Hill, authorities said. Butler was stabbed to death in an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Marcy Avenue just before 5:30 p.m. Friday, authorities said.

Cpl. Mike Rodriguez, a Prince George’s County police spokesman, said he did not know any details about the arrest, including what Nealy’s alleged motive was or what relationship, if any, he had with Butler.

The stabbing was one of two slayings on Marcy Avenue in just more than 24 hours, and law enforcement sources said they are probing whether there might be some connection between the two incidents. The second slaying occurred about 8:30 p.m. Saturday in same block of Marcy Avenue. In that case, police were called for a shooting and arrived to find Kaya Dejuna Wilson, 29, dead inside her apartment, authorities said. Homicide detectives have not yet charged anyone in the case.
