Alexandria police investigate Thursday evening attack on woman

A man grabbed a woman walking home from work Thursday night, pushing her to the ground, inappropriately touching her and running off after she screamed, Alexandria police said.

In a Friday press release, police said the man accosted the woman around 9:10 p.m. on Little Street near E. Maple Ave. The man ran off toward Walnut Street, police said.

Police described the man as between 5 ft. 8 in. and 5. ft. 10 in, between 25 and 30 years old and clean-shaven. He was wearing a dark jacket and a knit winter cap with a red stripe according to police.

A similar incident happened to a female jogger on Nov. 21 in the 200 block of E. Del Ray Ave, police said, but they are unsure whether the crimes are connected.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Betty Sixsmith at 703-746-6280 or the Criminal Investigations Section at 703-746-6711.
