Alexandria woman dies in Thursday Va. accident

An Alexandria woman died Thursday in a three-vehicle crash in Pulaski County, Va., police said.

According to the Virginia State Police, a tractor-trailer braking as it approached stopped traffic on southbound I-81 could not stop in time and swerved. It hit a Ford Escape, pushing the Escape into another tractor-trailer, police said.

The driver of the Escape, 47-year-old Sharon Tate, died at the scene, police said. The driver of the first tractor-trailer, 45-year-old Manrajbir Singh Kang of Ashburn, has been charged with reckless driving.
