Arl man groggy on cold medicine chases burglar

An Arlington man who was groggy from a dose of Nyquil awoke Sunday early morning to find a burglar in his home, police said.

The man was awakened at about 3:30 a.m. by the burglar rummaging around the apartment in the the 1300 block of S. Scott Street, said police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck.

The thief had gathered up items including an iPad, laptop, phone, cash and even a pair of the man’s pants.

The man got out of bed and ran after the burglar, chasing him down a hallway and out of his apartment door, according to Sternbeck.

Along the way, the burglar dropped several items, including a bottle of liquor, which the man was able to reclaim. The thief held onto some electronics and the pants, according to police.

“I guess he really liked the pants,” Sternbeck said.
