Armed man attempts to abduct woman in Herndon, police say

A man attempted to abduct a woman at gunpoint in Herndon Sunday night, but she managed to flee the scene without injury, Fairfax County police said.

The incident occurred in the 2400 block of Silk Court around 8 p.m. shortly after the 28-year-old woman parked her car, police said.

“He approaches her, engages her in a discussion, grabs her and then orders her to come with him,” said Lucy Caldwell, a Fairfax County police spokeswoman.

The woman then screamed and the man let her go, Caldwell said. She then fled the scene.

Caldwell said police searched the area for the man, but he was not found.

He is described as Hispanic and appeared to be in his mid to late 30s. He has a stocky build, thick eyebrows, a trimmed goatee and was wearing a wide brim turquoise and white baseball cap. Police said he was about 5’8”.
