A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of a Southeast D.C. man, police said.

James Fields, of no fixed address, was taken into custody on Thursday on a warrant charging him with second degree murder while armed, according to D.C. police.

The victim, Christopher Emanuel Freeman, 28, was found shot in an alley in the 300 block of 34th Street on August 5 at around 3 a.m., police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second victim was also injured in the shooting, police said.
