Police have made two arrests in the January slaying of a University of Maryland student in his off-campus home.

Deandre R. Williams, 23, of the 5800 block of Field Place NE in the District, and Stephan Weaver, of the 2600 block of Kinderbook Lane in Bowie, were charged with first-degree murder Thursday in the Jan. 11 slaying of Justin DeSha-Overcash, Prince George’s County Police said.

The motive in the killing was robbery, police said Thursday. They have said the crime was drug-related and that Overcash, who was selling drugs, was killed by someone trying to rob him.

On her Facebook page, DeSha-Overcash's mother, Karen DeSha, wrote: "RED LETTER DATE: The PG COUNTY Detectives havd caught the Suspect who harmed Justin...."

Law enforcement sources have said scales and marijuana-laced lollipops were seized from the home, and DeSha-Overcash's roommates heard the killer asking specifically for him — apparently not realizing he was speaking with the 22-year-old full-time University of Maryland student.

DeSha-Overcash's family and friends have disputed that Justin was a drug dealer.

Weaver is being held without bond in Prince George’s County. Williams is awaiting extradition from the District, where he was arrested, according to police.
