DOSWELL, Va. — A Hanover County autistic boy has been found alive after going missing for six days.

Police sources tell The Associated Press that 8-year-old Robert Wood Jr. was found Friday afternoon near the park where he was separated from his family.

Local media outlets report that the boy was in good condition and was being taken by helicopter to the hospital.

The severely autistic boy cannot speak and has been missing since Sunday during a walk with his family in North Anna Battlefield Park.

Hundreds of volunteers helped search in the woods north of Richmond.
