A man who went on a weeklong robbery spree last year in the District was sentenced Wednesday to 11 years in prison and ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution.

Tyrone Hines, 46, went into three banks last year between Feb. 26 and March 4. He passed tellers notes saying he would detonate a bomb if they didn’t give him money, officials said.

Hines was convicted in October of bank robbery and attempted bank robbery for robbing a Citibank in Northwest Washington, and trying to rob a Bank of America in Southwest and a BB&T bank in Northwest.

He was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly.
